How & Why to Join With Us

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

As we begin the Lenten Season of assessing our values and how we support them, make them real in our world, we hope you will consider the discernment of new or renewed support with other “free followers of Jesus” via the path of the UUCF. Many of you are already active and current in our movement, but others may never have taken advantage of this opportunity to join with us, or may be looking to renew your commitment with us. Now is an especially good time, critical time, to do so. Because….

At the printer now is UU Christian Journal vol. 61. Since our founding in 1945, this has been one of our most visible and influential presences within our larger movement. It is the premier theological journal within the UUA. This new journal issue will feature an essay on Christianity and Zionism by the Rev. Harry Hoehler, as well as essays on Jesus and the Hebrew Prophets by Rev. Mark Belletini, and Jesus from a UU Jewish Perspective by the Rev. Lisa Friedman. Also included will be the 2006 and 2007 prize essays from the Frederic Henry Hedge Church History and Clayton R. Bowen Biblical Scholarship competitions, and more.
In the upcoming Good News issues there will be special Lenten and Easter messages, as well as words about and from our 2008 General Assembly Featured Lecturer Father John Dear who is a peace activist, author, Jesuit priest, recent Nobel Peace Prize nominee by Bishop Desmond Tutu, subject of a documentary film, and who will be speaking to us on “Peace-making and The Questions of Jesus.” Also we will have lots of news about General Assembly and about the next general Revival.
We are unveiling a new website this Spring, and working to create new small groups of UUs who “freely follow Jesus” wherever they are. Contact us about forming or joining one near you.
Most importantly, we are answering the call as never before to embody the radical spirit of Jesus in the world; we ask you to answer our call to help us in this mission. Your support is crucial at this time as we reach out to new generations hungry to go deeper in their spiritual path.
Thanks and Blessings, and feel free to print or email and use the form below or simply email RevRonRobinson@aol.com with the information and send your financial support separately.
