SUBMISSION gUIDELINES

For many years, the Unitarian Universalist Christian Fellowship has produced the "Good News," a combination of newsletter and journal.  In order to do this, we need your help. We are asking for your submissions of poetry, sermons, art, prayers, reflections, meditations, etc.

Do you have anything that touches on these general areas (mind, body, heart, spirit, Christian practice/ritual?) Do you have favorite scripture that you'd like to share and/or send? Even if we are unable to use your submission for the first issue, we may hold onto it and ask to use it in an upcoming issue. See the writer and artist guidelines below for more information.

Writer and Artist Guidelines for the UUCF Good News and Web Site

ARTICLES, ESSAYS, REFLECTIONS: Expository writing should communicate an inspirational message of your experience of Unitarian Universalist Christianity. This may include sermons, homilies, textual study, exegesis, personal narrative and other forms. The language and message should be broadly inclusive, seeking to build up, not tear down the body of Christ. Submissions should be double-spaced in ten or twelve point font. Maximum length is 1500 words. Fictional material is generally not accepted.

POETRY: Poems are limited to 35 lines; however, we occasionally consider longer poetry. We consider unique writing styles. No more than five poems per submission please.

PRAYERS: We are always seeking original prayers to share the richness of the UU Christian faith journey.

PHOTOGRAPHS and ARTWORK: We accept Hi-Res digital photographs and illustrations for possible publication. Cover photographs are typically in color while interior photographs are usually in black and white. We favor vertical images, but consider horizontal.

SUBMISSIONS: Upon editorial review your submission may be selected for publication in our print or electronic version of Good News or on our Unitarian Universalist Christian Fellowship Web site. Writings for the Christmas edition of Good News must be received by the second Saturday in October, and Easter offerings are due in ten weeks prior to Easter Sunday in any given year. Please include or be prepared to provide a bio of 50-words or less and a (hi-res) headshot. We will make every effort to contact the author with content revisions. We generally respond to submissions in less than a month.
